Summer Reading!
Dear Parents/Guardians,
It’s hard to believe that we are already talking about summer reading for our students. The year is quickly coming to a close and it is important for your child to keep up with their reading. Studies show that a lack of summer reading can cause a decline in your child’s reading level. We encourage you to use this time to help them explore new genres without the confines of required school reading. It’s a perfect opportunity for your child to go out of their comfort zone with their reading choices. Our public library is a perfect place to visit to help with this and we encourage you to take advantage of their summer reading program and their FREE membership to borrow books. It is suggested that your child reads at least 20 min. a day. This can easily be done while they are in the car, having a snack, before bed, or enjoying the outdoors. Research has shown that it's also beneficial for all school aged children to be read to by a grown up or peer.
On here you will find additional resources, including book-lists and incentives. Please use your own discretion when helping your child choose books from the lists to read for the summer.
